Quality in Pathology QuIP GmbH – is the provider of quality in pathology in Germany. QuIP supports pathologists and pharmaceutical companies, as well as diagnostics providers in comparing and optimising their research results. At the same time, QuIP continually develops methods to enhance knowledge. To this end, QuIP has been offering proficiency tests since 2004. QuIP is a joint venture of the German Society of Pathology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pathologie e. V. – DGP) and the Federal Association of German Pathologists (Bundesverband Deutscher Pathologen e.V. – BDP). The German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) has accredited the recurring proficiency tests at QuIP in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043.

We achieve quality in pathology by defining standards for the best possible diagnostic performance in proficiency tests. These standards are always based on the current medical and technical state of knowledge. At the same time, the standards are aligned with transparent procedures and take economic efficiency into account .

1999

Pathology institutes at German universities perform first profiency test.

2000

Immunohistochemical proficiency test “2000” includes an IAP workshop held in Würzburg presenting the results, more than 20 IHC proficiency tests are to follow.

2004

The Federal Association of German Pathologists (Bundesverband Deutscher Pathologen e.V. – BDP) and the German Society of Pathology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pathologie e. V. – DGP) found QuIP – Quality in Pathology as a common subsidiary.

2004

Proficiency tests on predictive factors for mammary carcinoma including in-situ-hybridisation (Hannover)

2008

First proficiency test (RAS) in molecular pathology conducted in Munich, followed by numerous molecular proficiency tests.

2009

Cooperation with Reference Institute for Bioanalytics (RfB) launched.

2014

European Society of Pathology (Europäische Gesellschaft für Pathologie - ESP) and QuIP agree on mutually recognising their certificates.

2016

QuIP Ltd. (QuIP GmbH) is founded by BDP and DGP.

2018

More than 30 proficiency tests are conducted, IHC and molecular pathology each account for about 50 percent.

2020

Preparing for digital proficiency tests
